My party and I left for lunch, and after returning to get our stuff from the lockers I fully expected the wave pool to be closed so they could clean it. They looked at each other and burst out in laughter! I suggested they tell a maintenance manager or someone who could address the issue but I don't believe they did. I immediately went to the nearest employees at the tube rental station and reported what I had found. It didn't get better from there. After enjoying some time in wave pool, I noticed solid human waste washed up in the shallows near the entrance □. A little boy was overheard saying the green speed slide also burned his back. The yellow tube slide(The Banana something) jerked me up onto the side walls where there was no water and my back got burned from the friction.upon reaching the bottom there was too much water built up and I was completely submerged, causing water to rush up my nose and fill my sinuses with chlorine water. Unfortunately, in the few hours I was here a couple things happened that make Safari Joe's a place to avoid. I wanted to be able to give this place a glowing review, because it's obvious the new owners are trying to make this place better than Big Splash was. Overall, we had a good time and will go back. Yes, we could have moved but, we had already set up camp. Several workers walked by and noticed but, said nothing. One downside was we had a group of young 20 somethings next to us. We rented a tube to share but, you can bring in your own tubes. 2 of the slides were closed for maintenance. Don't try to sneak in food because they check your bag throughly! My kids loved the wave pool and spent most of their time there. Bring your own water bottles because they water filling stations. Food was crazy expensive we had 2 slices of pizza and a hamburger combo and it was 30.00. I would also recommend paying the extra for taking a cooler in. We got there about 10:30am we found chairs that were shaded. We had a nice time with our 9 year old twins. I am a PAYING customer! Yet, the lifeguard was COMPLETLEY RUDE AND DISRESPECTFULL! Management didn't seem to care, hence my poor rating. We visited Safari Joes for the first time last weekend. No doubt it's annoying, but BE NICE!! It really got me when I asked about the waves (after we waited for over 30 minutes for the waves). Management was excusing the lifeguards behavior!! I don't care if kids ask a million times, you be polite a million times. "They get asked all day by kids when the waves will start." I know how tough that business is! But that does not excuse the way the lifeguards talked to people! When I approached management about this, I was told, What I can't overlook is how rude many of the lifeguards are to me and to children! I worked in customer service. Indeed, I would not have taken time to write a review about that. The kids are trained to hit the wave pool first because they know it won't be operating later. Perhaps it is and perhaps it is a coincides that the maintenance happens to be every time we go and hour or so before closing. When asked management claims it is under maintenance. The mangers have told us that the wave pool runs every 15 minutes, yet it consistently stops an hour or so prior to closing. I have two issues, the wave pool and the lifeguards. So, for me the park is nice for the price. I buy them early and get a good deal on the purchase. My family of 8 has purchased season passes for the last couple of years. ~If you plan to go more than once a summer, consider buying a season pass early in the year when they first offer 's a great deal! (It is August too so I'm sure that was also a factor for the light crowds.) we went on a Tuesday & it wasn't crazy crowed. ~Wear water shoes (chacos, slip-ons of some type) because the concrete can be VERY hot! ~Take an empty Yeti-type cup and they will fill it with ice & water for you at the main snack bar for free. ~Read all the rules and information on their website before you go. My only complaint would be the condition of the wave pool surface (needs a repaint) & the main bathrooms the front of the park (the only ones we visited) are in need of a remodel. Food was surprisingly decent and typically priced for amusement parks. There were no shenanigans that I observed, just a lot of kids & adults having fun. I appreciated the attentive life guards at the wave pool and the constant attention from supervisors riding around on the golf carts. The new rides and animals are great additions. Very clean, well staffed and friendly employees. Visited Safari Joe's H20 for the first time since Joe took it over from the old Big Splash that I grew up with.
